Holy Spirit GNS Fingal League 2025

1st May 2025

The girls in 6th Class have been putting in some amazing hard work in 2025 with their Gaelic Football! Since February girls have been training with Ms. Leonard and Mr. O'Brien, also playing matches in the Fingal League.

Our matches began in March where we played St. Mary's and Benedicts in Kilbarrack. We got the bus down to the match on a sunny Thursday. The girls played some amazing football and showcased their fitness, teamwork and skills and came away winners in an exciting game. Final score: St. Mary's and Benedicts 1-3; HSGNS 6-6.

Our next game was at home in Setanta. We walked to the game where our opponents were St. Joseph's GNS. An exciting game in Ballymun finished with a win. Final score: HSGNS 4-5; St. Joseph's GNS 2-1.

Next up we had another away game, where we travelled out to Balbriggan to play Balbriggan ETNS. The weather was on our side again, and after a delayed kick-off the girls came away with another win. Final score: Balbriggan 0-1; HSGNS 9-2.

Our final league game was at home in Setanta versus Bracken ETNS. This game was an absolute spectacle. We started strongly and built a strong lead with a gale force wind at our backs. It really was a game of two halves and with the wind against us in the second half, Bracken came right back into the match. There were goals and points being kicked for both teams in a very open game and at the end of this epic affair, Holy Spirit came away with a 3 point win!

Holy Spirit are heading to the Fingal League Final! These fantastic results have come at the expense of commitment, teamwork and excellent skills! We are so proud of the girls this year and are really looking forward to supporting and celebrating their achievements on the 13th May in the GAA National Games Centre in Abbotstown. Thank you to all our teachers for supporting us and an acknowledgement to Dean from Ballymun Kickhams and Ms. O'Dowd for their help so far this year. Maith sibh, chailíní agus beir bua!
